This coffee from the Caranavi area of Yungus in Bolivia has recently features as our filter offering in the shop.
The colony of Villa Rosario is surrounded by jungle and just 5 hours drive from Lake Titicaca which shares it’s shores with Peru. After the land reforms in the 1950’s, the Bolivian government encouraged people from the Altiplano and La Paz to move down to the tropical agricultural areas to farm coffee by giving them free parcels of land.
Villa Rosario was one of the settlements for these people, and therefore many of the coffee producers here are very small, having just onto three hectares where they practise more traditional organic farming methods.
The picked cherries at these farms are combined and taken to the Buena Vista mill where they’re processed and dried on raised beds for 15 days.
We taste citrus fruits, soft florals, and a mild toffee sweetness.
